October 6, 2016 Vancouver, British Columbia. Blackrock Gold Corp. (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the commencement of a 2-phase exploration program at the silver-lead-zinc Medicine Springs Property in Nevada. Medicine Springs is located 10km NW of Silver Standard’s Maverick Springs deposit (Measured and Indicated Resources: 69.6Mt @ 1oz/t or 31g/t Ag and Inferred Resource: 85.6Mt @ 1oz/t or 31 g/t Ag). Of 121 historic drill holes completed at Medicine Springs, 73 were mineralized and defined two parallel trends up to 450m in length. A single step-out hole drilled under pediment cover 900m to the NE of the main mineralized zone, intersected 9.2m @ 76.3g/t Ag.
The Phase 1 program will consist of a scoping level metallurgical study that is being conducted by RDI Resource Development Inc. of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, with the objective of determining the best processing option to recover silver. The two options that will initially be evaluated will be heap leach and agitated leach. Historically the test work has indicated ± 60% extraction of silver.
Following the successful completion of the Phase 1 metallurgical testing, the Company proposes to conduct a drilling program. The Company plans to drill 4 to 6 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes of approximately 600 to 800 feet each. These holes will be designed to confirm the extent of the mineralization under pediment cover to the north, which was previously intersected in hole JS105 and was drilled 900m NE of the main mineralized zone, and cut 9.2m @ 76.3g/t Ag. The estimated cost of this Phase Two program is $150,000 USD.
